The Frank Buck Zoo

This morning we went to the Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville, TX with our friends Kimberly and Bridget. We had so much fun! The zoo is really cute, clean and there was NO ONE there! I was so surprised because the weather was so perfect, but besides seeing two other famililes on our way in and out we didn't see a single person the whole time we were there...it was like our own private zoo!

You can feed the giraffes, which of course we did...it was so much fun! Both of the girls loved it...they got to put chunks of carrots on their freakishly long tounges...it was so wierd because their tounges would just wrap around your fingers...gross! But the girls thought it was fabulous, and it was!

These are the two giraffes that we got to feed. The fenced area by their head is where we stood to give them their carrots.

The girls running down the boardwalk to the next exhibit. Since there literally was no one else there they got the freedom to run around ahead of us, etc. They loved it!

After a complete hand sanitization we went off to see the other animals at the zoo. They had porcupines (which I don't think I've ever seen in person) and the zoo keeper was cleaning their cage and let us hold and feel one of the quills, which was neat for the girls...and me! :)

In the petting zoo area...we had just fed the goats and they both wanted to see a baby cow, so this was as close as it got! :) Kelly had told Bridget about Pappy's new baby cows on the ride to the zoo, so of course that's what they wanted to see!

What trip to the zoo would be complete without a train ride? The zoo had a really cute park next to it that had this train...you had arm bracelets for the zoo so you could come in and out at your leisure. There was a really great playground too, but we didn't make it to that...maybe next time!
