Mammy and Pappy came in for a visit on Thursday and to go with us to Kelly's eye doctor appointment on Friday (for those of you who don't know my mom was a nurse for an
opthamologist, so I wanted her to go with us to hear what she had to say). Long story short, Kelly has
strabismus, which roughly means that the muscles that keep her eyes straight are weak and her eyes are starting to drift outward. There are apparently three stages to
strabismus and Kelly is in the 2
nd stage, which means that her eyes are drifting and not immediately popping back into the place. So, she has to wear a patch over one eye (alternating eyes each day) for 2 hours a day for 6 weeks...we'll then go back to the doctor to see if her eyes have strengthened. If not, we'll have to have surgery. Although I'm not excited about the idea of surgery, it beats the alternative of having eyes that point in different directions! And, the surgery is apparently a simple 30 minute outpatient procedure. We go back to the doctor May 1st and will know at that point if surgery will be required.
Anyway, here are some pics of Baby Ryan this weekend...I didn't get any good ones of Kelly...she was too busy playing with Mammy and Pappy! She went home with them today and is staying at their house until Thursday...she was so excited!

So sorry to hear about her eyes, but at least you know what it is and hopefully it will be fixed with the patch. At least she doesn't have to wear all day.
