Kelly had her 2 year old check up today...she did AMAZING! We took our doctor kit with us and pretended to check each other's ears and listen to heartbeats, etc., while we waited on Dr. Nail...it worked wonders! She usually screams the minute he walks in the door and today she was talking to him, calm, and all around fantastic. He said all of her development looks good...we didn't have to do blood work since she just had it 6 mo. ago when she was sick. He said since she is growing and healthy there isn't any reason to repeat at this point.
He gave us the number for a pediatric plastic surgeon at the vascular anomaly clinic at Children's regarding her hemangioma. He said at this age if its still present he likes to send you down for a second opinion. He said the doctor may just recommend continuing to watch it, or he may suggest another course of treatment. I don't know that Scott and I are prepared to do any treatments on it at this point, but I'll still make the appointment and see what he has to say.
Kelly also has a small umbilical hernia (thanks, Mom, for noticing!) which he said isn't anything to worry about at this point. He said they usually resolve on their own between the ages of 2-4 and hers is very small so we're going to just watch it. If it were to grow, become swollen, etc., then we would need to consult a pediatric surgeon, but he did not seem to think that was something that was imminent.
Now for the big news...Kelly is a BIG girl! :) She weighed 32 lbs. and is 38.5 inches tall. She is so far off the chart in height that he listed her as "greater, greater than 97%" instead of just "greater than 97%". She got TWO "greaters"! :) Her weight is in the 95th percentile, which he said for her height would just be considered normal.
Kelly was such a big girl...she didn't even cry when she got her pinchy (shot). Her little face scrunched up briefly, but then it was over and she was fine...I don't think she even let out a single cry! What a long way we've come from our 18 month check up! :)
